QUEEN OF HILLS ( OOTY )

Ooty was  once a  tribal land occupied by tribes called toda along with the other tribes . The major tribes occupied ooty are toda , irula , kurumba coexisting through specialisation and trade . It is also well known as udhagamandalam ,  nowadays famous tourist spot for local and foreign people in summer . The lowest record temperature here is -2 deg celsius in dec , jan and having a peak record of 25 deg celsius in apr , may months . The town had population of 88,430 lives .


Nilagiri mountain railway : British build the nilagiri mountain railway in 1908 . It was initially operated by madras railway company . It is still running under the steam . In 2005 , UNESCO added nilagiri mountain railway as an extinction to the world hertage site of darjeeling himalayan railways . For past few years diesel locomotives are taken over between coonoor and udhagamandalam .



Goverment rose garden : India's largest rose garden called "goverment rose garden" is located in ooty .
Altitude of rose garden is 2200 metres . This garden contains nearly 20000 varities of roses with 2800 cultivators . some of them are polyanthus , hybrid tea roses ,miniature roses , papagena , floribunda , ramlers , yakimour and unusual flowers in colour like black and green .



Ooty botanical garden : It was an huge 22 acres garden laid out in 1847 and managed by goverment of tamilnadu . In every May goverment of tamilnadu conduct exhibition for rare plant species . the garden has thousand species of plants , shrubs , ferns , trees , herbal and bonsai plants . The garden having 20 million year old fossilised tree in its centre .


Lakes and reserve forest : Ooty lakes covers an area of 65 acres and pykara is a lake located 19 km from ooty . Emerald lake , Avalanche lake and Porthimund lakes are other lakes found in ooty .Doddabetta is an highest peak in ooty nearly 2623 metres from the sea level .Muthumalai elephant reserves and Tiger reserves located in the north western side of nilgiri hills . Here we can find engangered indian elephants , vulnreable gaur and chital . It is heaven for Bengal tigers , Indian  leopards and threatened species . Muthumalai national park is under consideration of UNESCO world heritage comittee for declare as world heritage site .

Maharaja express is an indian owned train operated by indian railway catering and tourism corporation . It is one of the leading luxurious trains in the world . Maharaja express is operated from march 2010 .It won "the world travel award "in 2012 . LORD OF SUPERSONIC MISSILES
