                               SIACHEN  ICE GLACIER                                     ( The most dangerous and heighest army base in the world )

Ancient History Of Siachen  : Siachin Glacier is originally known as siacher gharni was a place of interest and several Baltis from the western valley visited the glacier . Many years ago it is belived that small Yarkandi village is existed in the entrance of Teram Shehr glacier . ( Bullockwormworth )found such settlement in 1912 and it is photographed by the indian expedition in 2012 . Here yarkandis met baltis and traded with them . once some of the yarkandis took away the balti woman to their glacier . To take revenge baltis made contacts with Mullah . Mullah insisted them to place Tawiz . Soon they placed and returned, storm attacked the ice glacier and destroyed all the settlements ,only rocky desolation remained . The preists said that the calamity would have been greater they followed directions fully . Because of this lapse in folowing the instuctions wild roses were not destroyed by the storm . Today plenty of roses are grow near the scout and the lower valley , the entire glacier is barren . The glacier is called siachen ( sia - rose , chen - place of ) - the place of roses . 




Siachin Under Indian Army : Siachin glacier is now under Indian army administration since 1984 forms part of leh district , ladhak .it is located in the eastern ,himalayan mountains .It is the line of control between Indian army and Pakistan . Pakistan controls the region west of saltaro ridge located 3000 ft below .The Siachen Glacier lies immediately south of the great drainge divide , that seperates eurasian plate and indian sub continent .

Conflicts Of Siachen : Both India and Pakistan claims soverignity over entire siachin glacier , between 1984 and 1999 there are many skirmishes took place between india and pakistan . this leads to violation of shimla agreement . in 1984 india planned and succeded operation called Meghdoot , this gives india whole contribution over siachin , and its tributaries . Pakistan lost 353 soldiers in various operations recorded between 2003 and 2010 near Siachen, including 140 Pakistani personnel killed in 2012 Gayari sector avalache Between January 2012 and July 2015, 33 Indian soldiers lost their lives due to adverse weather .  In December 2015, Indian Union Minister of State for Defence rao inderajit singh  said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that a total of 869 Army personnel have lost their lives on the Siachen glacier due to climatic conditions and environmental and other factors till date since the Army launched Operation Meghdoot in 1984 . Both India and Pakistan continue to deploy thousands of troops in the vicinity of Siachen and attempts to demilitarise the region have been so far unsuccessful. Prior to 1984, neither country had any military forces in this area . lot of lives have been died to sfeguard the line of control .
